Welcome to Spring Lake Park Spring Lake Park is an established residential community of small-town charm and friendly folks, located ten miles north of Minneapolis in the counties of Anoka and Ramsey, with a variety of commercial and industrial development. The City of Spring Lake Park consists of approximately 2.1 square miles with six community parks offering many types of recreational activities, access to neighboring communities, and the metro area by major highways.
Spring Lake Park is named after one of its two lakes, Spring Lake, which is located at the southeast corner of the city. In December of 1953, Spring Lake Park was incorporated by referendum, which included a very small part of Ramsey County due to the fact that the Fire Department was located in Ramsey County and bore the name Spring Lake Park. At the time of the incorporation, the population of Spring Lake Park was approximately 960 and has grown to its present population of 6,805.
In 1975, Spring Lake Park City Hall was relocated to its present location at 1301 Eighty First Avenue NE. In honor of our Nation bi-Centennial, Spring Lake Park changed its Logo and painted its water towers to that of our nation's colors of red, white, and blue with white stars. Since 1976, and held each year at the last week of school, our annual Tower Days community celebration kicks off the start of summer vacation.
Spring Lake Park City Council consists of the Mayor and four Council Members, who are elected at large and serve four-year, staggered terms. Local elections are held in November of even-numbered years. City council meetings are held on the first and third Monday of each month in the Council Chambers.
Spring Lake Park Police Department has a Chief, two Patrol Sergeants, an Investigator, School Liaison Officer, and six Patrol Officers, who provide police services on a year-round twenty-four-hour full-time basis. The City provides fire and rescue services through the use of volunteer Firefighters and EMTs shared with the neighboring cities of Blaine and Mounds View. Staff at the Spring Lake Park City Hall consist of an Administrator/Clerk, Accountant, Building Official/Fire Marshal, Code Enforcement Inspector, Council Secretary, Payroll/Assessment Clerk, Receptionist, Recycling/Special Projects Coordinator, and Utility Billing Clerk. Maintenance is performed by the City's Public Works Department consisting of the Public Works Director and six full-time workers. Park activities and recreation are provided by the Park Director, two Program Supervisors, and one Park Secretary.
Spring Lake Park has also provided fine liquors at its Central Park Liquor Store since 1982, located just down the road from City Hall at 8101 Highway 65 in Spring Lake Park.
